Door-to-last-door Broadband for Schoharie County gets another funding boost from ESD’s ConnectALL. And we’re all the winners.

When Schoharie County’s $45 million Broadband Project is completed next year, everyone will have access to affordable, high-speed internet. ConnectALL recently boosted grant funding for the work.

Something you’ll be able to do anywhere, from every last of our 626 square-miles, when the $45 million Broadband for Schoharie County project drops its last foot of fiber by June 2027.

A ceremonial unrolling of broadband conduit kicked off the build-out in November. 

Then, just last month, Empire State Development’s ConnectALL (they’re funding the bulk of the work with Schoharie County making up the difference) increased grant funding to $42,395,150.

>>Completed, the project will mean 100 percent access to high-speed broadband to more than 4,000 locations across 300 miles targeting the most rural, hard-to-reach, (and beautiful) places here.

Schoharie County will be one of just three percent of the counties across the country where everyone has access to affordable, high-speed internet.

A game-changer for everyone who lives and earns a living in one of our 16 towns or five villages and better, faster, more reliable access to health care, EMS, law enforcement, education, work-from-home opportunities, online businesses, marketing, shopping…

Revolutionary. And what timing as we mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, right here, in Schoharie County, where so many battles were fought and won.

 But this time it’s the Digital Revolution.

Reliable, door-to-last-door internet will be a powerful selling point for entrepreneurs (like you?) looking for all Schoharie County has to offer: friendly communities, award-winning schools, farms and foods, and a quiet outdoor life.

“We’re building a foundation that has so much potential,” said County Economic Development Coordinator John Crescimanno, who’s overseeing it all. “High speed internet isn’t a privilege anymore. It’s a necessity that levels the playing field. It’s an investment in growing the county,” and we’re going to be on the winning side. Again.

This internet service is supported by a grant awarded to Schoharie County by New York State through the ConnectALL Municipal Infrastructure Program, funded by the Capital Project Fund administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
