Welcome to a Winter Wonderland. Schoharie County’s 1st Real 2025 Snowstorm in Photos.

If you like winter weather–and in Schoharie County, you better–you’re in your glory right now with, in some places, nearly a foot of the fluffy white stuff arriving as a late Christmas present.

Love it, leave it, there’s no denying winter just might be the most beautiful season of the year in Schoharie County.

Snowfall totals here, midway between the Catskills and the Adirondacks, with one winter-booted foot in the Capital District and the other in the Mohawk Valley, usually run in the 60-70-inch range–perfect for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.

If the very thought of all that winter chills your cold, cold heart like some spell from the Grimmerie, that’s OK too: We’ve already passed the shortest day of 2025 (December 21, the Winter Solstice) so it’s all downhill from here, just 82 days till spring.

Love it, loathe it, winter is stunning in Upstate New York.  Put on some layers, bundle up, and get outside and enjoy the scene. Maybe even grab your camera.

Because it’ll all be gone before we know it.
